Lenzi Toler

Substitute/Instructor

A familiar face in our dance family, both on the stage and leading classes of all ages regularly.  Lenzi is a Richmond native,  and  started dancing at Martinique School of Dance when she was only 5 years old.  Lenzi had the privledge of studying under the director of Martinique, Shannon Martin Howell, who recongized Lenzi's talent at a very young age.   When Lenzi was just 9 years old she secured her spot in the Ballet Petite Ballet Company and performed for the company for many seasons.  Lenzi was most excited to dance the lead role of the Ballerina Doll in the toy scene of "Twas The Night Before Christmas".  When she was entering 7th grade, Lenzi discovered the news that Martinique School of Dance was closing their doors.  She was not sure where she would continue her dance training or if she would continue dancing at all.  She walked into Legacy School of Dance hopeful but hesitant, only to fall in love with dance all over again.  Not only the program, but the bonds she made through her many years at Legacy.  Lenzi's first love in dance was ballet, but over her years of training she began to branch out to discover her passion for mutiple styles of dance.  She will now tell you that her favorite style of dance is contemporary.

Since entering Legacy's doors Lenzi has earned many lead roles in Legacy's ballet productions including the role of Cinderella from the Ballet Excerpt Cinderella in 2015.  She also danced leads in the ballet excerpts of GiselleThe Dream, La Esmeralda and Sleeping Beauty.  Lenzi will be performing the role of Odette (The White Swan Princess) in Legacy's excerpt of Swan Lake this season.

Along with her training at Legacy, Lenzi has studied at Broadway Dance Center in New York City, where she worked with some of world's greatest instructors, including Sheila Barker, Eric Campros, and Greg Zane to name a few.  She also had the oppotunity to attend DanceMakers International and Ambition dance conventions where she studied under Dejan Tubic, Lindsey Leduc and Kathryn McCormick.

Lenzi has held the role as our "Senior Dancer" on Legacy's Competition dance team since it's inception in 2013.  She leads the team by example, holding only the highest expectations for herself, always congratulating her peers, and she will not hesitate to assist one of our youngest members of the team.  On stage she has lead multiple group dances and solos earning the highest honors at competitions along the east coast.

In 2013 Lenzi was awarded the Kimberly R. Ligatti Scholarship for her hard work, dedication, and compassion for all people and in 2015 she was recongized as one of Legacy's Leaders for her commitment to excellence on the stage and her dedication to her peers and love for the art of dance. Lenzi was also brought onto the Legacy staff to substitute for the past few years and is hopeful to return after college to teach a class of her own.
