Sara began dancing at Martinique School of Dance at the age of 4. She joined the student company, Ballet Petit, and danced in the annual performance of 'Twas The Night Before Christmas for 8 years. Sara started dancing at Legacy when it formed in 2010 and was in the graduating class of 2013. Sara began assisting classes at Martinique when she was a dancer there and has been subbing and assisting classes at Legacy since it formed in 2010. Sara became a teacher with Legacy after graduating in 2013.
While dancing at Legacy, Sara had multiple amazing opportunities to go to NYC and train at Broadway Dance Center and Peridance Capezio Center as well as attend The Dance Teacher Summit and learn from industry leaders including Frank Hatchett, Mia Michaels, Doug Caldwell, Sonya Tayeh, Sue Samuels, and Denise Wall. This training was in addition to competing as a pre-professional, and winning a special judges award at the OnStage America Grand Nationals in Orlando, Florida in 2014. She was also the recipient of the Shannon Martin Howell Scholarship Award, as a student at Martinique School of Dance.
Sara graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Economics and a minor in History in 2017. While at VCU Sara also took classes with highly respected VCU dance faculty to further her dance training and experience. Sara is now attending University of Richmond School of Law (class of 2020). While attending law school Sara intends to continue at Legacy as a substitute dance instructor.
